Organ Restoration Project Update

February 15 2019

Since January 7, 2019, our own Parish Engineer, Mr. Gregory Stager, has been working on part two of the Tellers Pipe Organ Restoration.  This consists of a new digital computer system.  Mr. Stager has indicated that the digital organ work is going well, but more slowly than he expected.  So far, Mr. Stager has removed the Old 1985 organ computer from inside the balcony console.  Actually, he needed to remove all the electronic equipment from inside the console.  Mr. Stager has fabricated a new stop board, created from oak and baltic birch plywood.  He has installed two new keyboards and is confronting the challenge of making these two new keyboards fit appropriately.

He has mounted the new computer in the bottom of the organ console.  Finally, Mr. Stager has done preliminary work in the pipe chamber, by removing panels and evaluating the electrical wiring underneath the 900 metal and wooden pipes.

In the coming days of February, Mr. Stager will finish fabricating the organ stop board, which contains the control for the new organ combination memory action.  Completion date for the “total” tellers organ restoration project is Thursday, March 21, 2019.
